| Contents: | Being a landlord is never easy, as Johan and Maxie Le Roux discover when they decide to rent out their “second bedroom” for extra income. Each lodger is eccentric and causes problems. Gysbert Papenfus, an abstract painter escaping his wife’s wrath, is dragged back home. Next tenant MC de Kort is a womaniser. Johan notices Maxie is in awe of MC, and boots him out. Johan decides to get his own back and rents the room to two professional dancers, whom Maxie soon evicts. When quiet, polite Kariba van Dyk moves in, the Le Rouxs believe their problems are over. A talented cook and pianist, Kariba also helps Johan with his building plans. But it soon becomes obvious that Kariba suffers from psychological problems. One evening, after he unknowingly almost strangles Maxie, the Le Rouxs decide that they will have to make ends meet without any lodgers.
